Marjolijn van den Assem
Marjolijn van den Assem (Rotterdam, 11 February 1947) is a Dutch visual artist. She lives and works in Rotterdam.
Van den Assem's work can be read as travel reports via seismographic drawings. She is not concerned with a realistic representation of what the eye sees, but she lets her hand depict the line of thought - the way of thinking. Her imaginary journeys often have their origins in the letters of Friedrich Nietzsche. Her work has been included in many Dutch museums, including the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, and in corporate and private collections.
